娘は経管栄養をしていて、外出すると「ずっと家族3人がはぐれないように」気を張りつめていました。でも昨年のハミング・オアシスでは、看護師さんが見守ってくれるケアルームがあったから、夫と私が交代で兄をキッズスペースに連れていけた。家族みんなが、ばらばらに笑える時間って、あんなに尊いんですね。

Our daughter is tube-fed, and going out always meant the three of us had to stay glued together. But at Humming Oasis last year, the nurse-staffed care room let my husband and me take turns bringing our older son to the kids' space. I never realized how precious it is when each family member can just laugh — separately, freely.

重症心身障害のある弟がいる兄として、ずっと「お利口にしてなきゃ」と思っていました。でもあのイベントは、僕のためのステージもあって、初めて「主役」になれた気がしました。来年もまた、行きたい。

As the older brother of a child with severe disabilities, I always felt I had to "behave well." But at this event, there was a stage just for me — for the first time, I felt like the star. I want to come back next year.
